Sivananda-based hatha yoga encompassing traditional practices of pranayama (breathing), asanas (postures), and dhyana (meditation, self-awareness).
Classes are one-hour long and are suitable for all levels. The calm, steady pace allows you to go deeply into your practice. Emphasis is placed on your own experience of the practice through focusing on the breath. Postures are guided and modifications are given, so it can be as gentle or as strenuous as you like.
Hatha means sun + moon and refers to the juxtaposition of movement + rest. In class, we hold steady postures for a minute or two, then allow time for relaxation between poses. Pranayama, meditation, and relaxation are featured in addition to going through a series of yoga postures.
